How did you learn about Aromatherapy? is probably my most frequently asked question.

My answer is always “On my first trip to Australia for our 3rd child’s (2nd son) wedding”. My answer only leads to more questions and I love to tell my story, but I will make it very brief here. My new daughter-in-law’s aunt was a nurse, so am I (now retired). She and her husband called us at our daughter-in-law’s parent’s home and asked us to “come and spend a few days with them”. They expressed that both ladies were nurses and both gentlemen were involved in
agriculture that “we would have a lot in common”. That was the beginning of a life - long friendship! We shared our individual interest in nursing and when she told me how she was using Essential Oils to help cancer patients with anxiety, pain, & to relax I was all in!! Question, after Question, and still more Questions!!

Essential Oils were rarely heard of in Middle America at that time (2001). Finally, she asked, “would you like to go with me to see some of my clients tomorrow and see what I do”? My
answer, “YES”. You guessed it, that trip lead to more & more questions!! Then she asked me, “would you like to learn how to use Essential Oils to make blends and products”? “Oh, YES, I
would love to” - was my reply!! The rest is history!! I came home with a suitcase full of various supplies and a book of her recommendation, on using essential oils.

My journey began for learning about essential oil and how to use them safely. In 2013 I took the step and became a Clinical Aromatherapist. I continue to study Aromatherapy (the use of Essential Oils) daily under different acknowledged teachers, authors, and authorities. The knowledge gained through my past and present studies on Aromatherapy, along with my professional education, practice, & knowledge gained from a 25 plus year career as a Registered Nurse (working mainly in Neurology, Neuro Trauma, and Neurological Critical Care) work well together to help me help others even in retirement.

What do I do?

I help others learn to live a healthier life style by teaching and guiding them in the use of natural plant-based products. This can benefit anyone and everyone and it is focused toward prevention with the ultimate goal being a full and healthy life. When we use natural essential oils to control pain, we prevent the side effects that come from pain medications: constipation, sleepiness, fear or reality of addiction. When we learn to use essential oils to relax, rest, and achieve a good night’s sleep it can help us in the prevention of multiple stress-based diseases. I also assist those who have developed disease learn the joy of using natural plant based-products to find relief.

Some ask me, “Why do you do what you do”? I do it because I enjoy helping others. Anyone who has been a nurse knows the joy one received from making your patient or a family feel better or understand better what is happening to them. I realized many years ago there would be a time when I could no longer do the heave physical work required of a nurse – especially in a critical care unit. That was when I began (with my husband’s encouragement) to think about turning my knowledge into a business. It has been one
of my greatest pleasures.
